I have finally done it. I have achieved the unimaginable and I have finally entered the 21st century and purchased a BlackBerry 3G from my phone provider, Koodo. After holding out for quite some time, I have stepped into the world of smartphones as per the advice of my lovely fiancée.
Why did I do it? My profession demands it. When I am on the street without a computer and Internet connection, I have no idea what is going on. I do not know if the mayor is holding a press conference, if there is a breaking news story or if there is a media availability session somewhere in the city.
Furthermore, when I attend, let’s say a city council meeting, I can provide live coverage through Twitter, otherwise known as live-tweeting. This way, I can provide up-to-date information for DigitalJournal.com.
Since I’m a recluse and do not have much connection to the outside world, I received the most basic plan. It’s strictly for work. The other day, my beautiful dame and I went to a restaurant. Both of our neighbours were on their smartphones, while my lady and I engaged in conversation. That is one thing I will not and shall not do; be on my phone when I am in the presence of company. Whatever happened to the art of conversation?
Anyway, I am looking forward to the new method of reporting live news.
I hope everyone enjoys my work and hopefully this will only enhance it.
